Krystyna Chiger
Krystyna Chiger was born October 28, 1935 in Lvov, Poland. She was born to Ignacy and Paulina. Her brother, Pawel, was born May 18, 1939, also in Lvov. Krystyna and her family lived in an apartment on Kopernika 12. But once Germany and Russia divided Poland into two, they fell under the Russians rule. The Russians believed in communism. They were forced to move out of they're home and live at Zamarstynowska 34. Shortly after that, they had to move to Zamarstynowska 120. Due to the conditions of their ghetto, which was under Joseph Grzymek's order (he was the SS Obersturmfuhrer), they couldn't take the harsh treatment. This led Ignacy to the idea of living amongst the slime and rats of the sewers. In the sewers, they met Leopold Socha, Jerzy Kowalow, and Stefek Wroblewski, three sewer workers who would provide their safety for 14 months. In their hiding, the Chiger family hid with 11 others: Kuba (uncle), Jacob Berestycki, Mundek Margulies , Klara Keler, Weiss, Weiss's mother, Halina Wind, Shmiel and Genia Weinberg, and Chaskiel and Itzek Orenbach. Over their time in the sewers, their group was divided, disease fell upon them, death occurred, and others left, hoping to make it out but that usually ended as death for them. After 14 months, they were liberated and able to get out of the sewers. Her name is now Kristine Keren.
Question 1: Which country ruled over Lvov during the time? What was they're political views?
