The Girl in the Green Sweater
By: Krystyna Chiger with Daniel Paisner
"We were all so much thinner than we had been a year earlier." As they climbed through the pipes of the sewer, they realized they could fit easier than they did a year before. As they climb, they hear the cheers of people above them. They hear their rejoicing of the ghetto finally being liberated. Before them was freedom at last. Behind was their past, they forgot their beloved dead and the horrors of their time. Finally, they reach the manhole. Slowly, the lid was popped open and the light fled into their eyes.
Question 5: How would you handle the fact of living in the sewer for 14 months?
